Get started with your first bot through the guided onboarding flow
Onboarding Wizard
When you first sign up for OpenClaw, a guided onboarding wizard walks you through setting up your first bot in three steps.
How It Works
After creating your account and logging in for the first time, you are automatically redirected to the onboarding wizard.
Step 1: Choose Your Bot Pack
Select a subscription tier that fits your needs:
- Basic ($30/month) — 3,000 messages, dedicated VM, Smart AI routing for simple tasks
- Pro ($60/month) — 5,000 messages, larger VM, Smart AI routing with balanced speed & quality, priority support
- Ultra ($200/month) — 10,000 messages, high-CPU VM, Smart AI routing with premium models, SLA guarantee
Each subscription powers one bot. You can buy multiple subscriptions later for additional bots.
First-time users are eligible for a 7-day free trial on the Basic tier. A credit card is required upfront — it auto-converts to a paid subscription after the trial.
After selecting a tier, you are redirected to the Polar.sh checkout page to complete payment. Once payment is confirmed, the wizard automatically advances to the next step.
Step 2: Create Your Bot
Enter your bot details:
- Bot Name — A display name for your bot
- Telegram Bot Token — The token from @BotFather (see Create a Telegram Bot)
Select an idle subscription to attach your bot to, then click Create Bot. The platform verifies your token and registers the webhook.
Step 3: You're All Set
A confirmation screen shows your bot was created successfully. From here you can:
- Go to Dashboard — View all your bots and analytics
- Manage Your Bot — Jump directly to your new bot's detail page
- Browse quick-start resources and documentation links
Skipping Onboarding
If you prefer to set things up manually, click Skip for now in the top-right corner. You can always:
- Subscribe from the Billing page
- Create bots from the Bot Management page
If you skipped onboarding and haven't subscribed yet, the dashboard shows a "Complete your onboarding setup" prompt linking back to the wizard.
Returning Users
The onboarding wizard only appears for brand-new users who haven't finished or skipped it. Once completed, you go straight to the dashboard on login.
If you already had an active subscription and bot before the onboarding feature was added, the system automatically marks your onboarding as complete.
